If You Have a Case Number
If you have a case number and you would like copies of the file, submit a
written request along with a check with the words "Not To Exceed
$25.00" to cover the initial cost of the copies. You will be
notified (by mail or phone) should the cost exceed $25.00. Checks and
money orders should be made payable to "Sacramento Superior
Court" and mailed to 720 9th Street, Room 101, Sacramento,
California,
95814, Attention: Criminal Correspondence Unit.
If You Do Not Have a Case Number
You can research our
Case Index Program or submit a written
request for a Criminal Background Research. The court will only research
Sacramento County criminal record information on cases dating from 1989
to present. You must provide the precise data such as a specific name,
date of birth, social security number, driver's license number, etc.
If your case is older than 1989, you can use the public microfiche
located in the Criminal Records Unit at the Downtown
Courthouse or you can contact the California
Department of Justice.
Costs for Copies
- $.50 per page for copies
- $15.00 per certification of a copy of paper, record, or proceeding
on file
- $20.00 per exemplification
- $15.00 for searching records or files, for each search longer
than 10 minutes (includes index search)
- $15.00 fee for document authenticated pursuant to court order
(per signature)
- $1.00 fee for comparison of a copy with an original on file (per
page)
If the appropriate fees are not attached or your requested
information is incomplete, the request will be returned to you.
